 Training for a Bike Race

posted by kyleshaffer on September 01, 2010 7:17 as Exercise

I just started training for the Pedal Away Prostate Cancer 25 mile race.  It will be held on Sat., Sept. 11, 2010 in Dover, DE.  I did this race last year and went the wrong way and still came in FIRST in my age group.  I will try and not go the wrong way this time and hope for a better time!

I started riding my bike on Sat. and it was the first time I have been on my bike since the race last year.  So far since Sat. I have rode over 74 miles.  I have ZERO muscle fatigue and where you normally get the sorest, I am feeling NO PAIN.  Can I explain this, NO, but it could have something to do with the Fun Alkalete Capsules!!!!!!

For more info on the race, go to www.visitdover.com

Hope to see you out there for this ...

 An Apple A Day

posted by kyleshaffer on August 31, 2010 5:43 as Nutrition

Eating an apple a day can keep you healthy.  The fruit contains soluble fiber (the type that can help lower cholesterol), which research suggests may strengthen your immune system, helping you recover faster from illness.  Most foods don't have much; the best sources are brussels sprouts (3 grams), citrus fruits (2 grams) and apples, bananas and carrots (1 gram each).  Aim for 6-8 grams of soluble fiber a day from the foods mentioned above.

We are getting into the season where the Apples are so delicious!!!!!
